Canada Dental Benefit: How to Apply

Applications for the 1st stage of the NDP dental plan are now open for eligible parents with children 12 and under. This interim step will provide funds for dental care while we work to complete the permanent plan.

Who qualifies?

Families with children under 12 and an adjusted family net income under $90,000 without employer-provided dental insurance.

You will need a My CRA account in order to apply online.

What do I receive?

Depending on your income, up to $1300 per child.

INCOME UNDER $70,000

  • $650 for dental care services received between Oct 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023
  • $650 for dental care services received between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024

Total: $1300 per child

INCOME BETWEEN $70,000 - $79,999:

  • $390 for dental care services received between Oct 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023
  • $390 for dental care services received between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024

Total: $1300 per child

INCOME BETWEEN $80,000 - $89,999:

  • $260 for dental care services received between Oct 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023
  • $260 for dental care services received between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024

Total: $1300 per child

IMPORTANT INFO:

  • The payment will not reduce other federal income-tested benefits such as the Canada Workers Benefit, the Canada Child Benefit, and the Goods and Services Tax Credit.
  • You can apply for the payment in advance and regardless of the amount of the actual bill you incur. You must keep receipts in case they are ever asked for to prove you actually went to the dentist.
  • You also qualify if you have dental benefits under social services programs if you have unreimbursed out of pocket costs.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRMENTS

You must have filed your 2021 income tax return.

You must receive the Canada Child Benefit.
